Procedure Description: Injectable derma filler gel
What To Expect: As

Cosmetic
Botox was researched and developed by an Ophthalmologist and has been
used since the late 70s for many medical conditions by surgeons and
others. Although relatively new in the cosmetic industry, in the 70s
Ophthalmologists began injecting botulium toxin into tiny eye muscles
to treat "lazy eye". In the 1980s, the drug was used to correct other
facial, eyelid and limb diseases such as tremors and spasms. It was
during a procedure in the late 1980s that the cosmetic benefit was
first noticed. A patient was injected for eye spasms and it became
apparent that their frown lines had notably diminished. The cosmetic
use of Botox was researched and published in the early 1990s.
Botulinum
toxin or Botox can be used to make a dramatic improvement in the lines
of expression we see on our foreheads, between our eyebrows and around
our eyes. It can improve the appearance of an angry or unhappy look
caused by these furrows.
Preprocedure: An
anesthetic cream is applied to the skin for about 10 minutes prior to
the injection. The number of injections required depends on the
specific patient needs.
Postprocedure: In
general patients have no side effects. An occasional patient will have
a small bruise at the injection site. The effects last about four
months.

largest part of 20!20. Dr. Hynes is an expert in finding a good fit for
even the hardest-to-fit patient - even those that have never had

Delaney is a life long resident of Columbia. She previously worked with
Calvin Klein, ck, and Coach Eyewear and is experienced in fitting and
dispensing eye glasses with the best of care. In addition, Marci is the
Operations Manager for 20!20 Vision.
Leslie Barnes has worked
with Dr. Hynes for over 5 years and is happy to continue that
relationship as Administrative Assistant. Leslie is also the Billing
and Insurance Specialist at 20!20 Vision. In addition, she assists Dr.
Hynes with contact lense fitting. Leslie is excited to announce that
she and her husband, Chris, are now the proud parents of Hailey Ann
Barnes. Born Tuesday, September 9 and weighing in at a healthy 8lbs
4ozs.
Candy Stokes is Billing & Insurance assistant at 20!20
Vision. Candy and her family are long-time residents of Lexington
County.
Newest staff member here at 20!20 is Melody Wiggers.
Melody is stepping up to learn all aspect of our practice, primarily
assisting with Insurance. Melody and her family live in Lexington.

Fraxel Laser Therapy
Dr.
Kelly Hynes and her staff are excited and proud to announce that we are
now offering Fraxel Laser Therapy to Columbia and the Midlands. Fraxel
is the newest and most revolutionary technology in facial rejuvenation.

The
Fraxel Laser is the only laser made today that utilizes a new
technology called Fractional Resurfacing. With Fractional Resurfacing
Technology, the desired results are obtained by treating a fraction of
the skin's surface at a time. During the treatment, microscopic closely
spaced laser spots are delivered to the skin, while simultaneously
preserving normal healthy skin between these spots. This preservation
of healthy skin between the laser spots results in rapid healing
following the laser treatment.
The Fraxel Laser has been FDA
approved for the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes and the
treatment of age spots, sun spots, and sun-damaged skin. We are using
this laser to accomplish full facial resurfacing, as well as other
areas. Clinical studies suggest that an effective treatment plan is
typically 4 laser sessions, spaced 3-6 weeks apart. Results are
immediate and progressive, with the optimal cosmetic result visible a
few months following the final treatment. Patients have been quite
pleased with their results.
Treatments with the Fraxel Laser
have no significant recovery downtime. There is no need for pain
medication after the treatment because any discomfort is minimal. The
skin may have a pinkish tone like a sunburn for a few days, which is a
normal sign that the skin is healing. Patients typically return to work
immediately following their treatment. Women can wear make-up right
after treatment and men may shave, as well.
Although a service
of 4 Fraxel Laser Treatments normally cost $5000 for full face, until
October 31, 2008 we are discounting full face Fraxel Treatment to

Acne Note: Fraxel Laser Therapy is becomming the New
"Gold Standard" for acne scars. Not all acne scars will respond well to
this laser, however. The Fraxel can significantly improve undulating or
"saucer-like" acne scars. These are scars that are wider than they are
deep. On the other hand it seems to do little for "ice-picks" scars.
These are tiny deep holes that look like they were made with an
ice-pick.
Fractional resurfacing is a breakthrough in improving
the quality of the skin. This revolutionary treatment can be helpful in
addressing many bothersome skin problems such as wrinkles, acne scars,
scars, sun damage, brown spots and other skin problems. The true
advantage of the technology is the ability to acheive great results
with minimal downtime.
Side Effects: Most patients experience
1-2 days of swelling, 2-4 days of pinkish, sunburned looking skin, and
4-7 days of rough feel and/or skin flaking. This can be diminished by
applying quality skin cream. There is minimal discomfort after
treatments and patients can apply cosmetics immediately. While the
risks of negative effects do exist, the outcome is typically very
favorable as compared to other treatments in terms of effectiveness,
tolerability and side effects.
